Pluto IC line
Your Pluto IC line runs through the places where Pluto lay directly underfoot, at the lowest point beneath the Earth, at your birth. Astrologers read it as a line for digging into roots: family history, inherited patterns and rebuilding private life from the ground up.

What the Pluto IC line is
The Pluto IC line, also called the Pluto Imum Coeli line (Latin for the bottom of the sky), joins the places where Pluto was on the meridian beneath your feet when you were born. In a chart drawn for any of them, Pluto sits on the IC, the angle astrologers use for home, family, roots and the private self. The Pluto line page sets it beside the planet's three other lines.
Like every IC line, it is a straight meridian from pole to pole, drawn dashed on our map, and it runs exactly opposite your Pluto MC line. Pluto could not be seen from anywhere along it: it was on the far side of the Earth. That image of something powerful but out of sight sits at the center of how astrologers read this line.
What astrologers associate it with
Tradition treats the Pluto IC line as the most inward of the four Pluto lines. Its themes are family secrets, inherited habits, the stories nobody tells, and an urge to clear out the foundations of your life and rebuild them. It is read as powerful rather than restful.
Astrologers often describe it as a line for deep private change: the home you make here, and the way you think about where you come from, may look very different after a few years. Ancestry research and restoring an old house fit the symbolism.
Home and daily life
Home is the main stage. Astrologers link the Pluto IC line with big renovations, clearing out years of belongings, and homes that feel like a refuge from the world. Privacy matters more than usual.
The challenge is intensity at home: old family dynamics resurfacing, strong feelings about who runs the household, a sense that you cannot settle until something deep is resolved. Tradition reads the reward as a base that feels truly yours.
Love and relationships
For couples, this line is read as a test of the private side of a relationship. Living together near a Pluto IC line is said to bring up family patterns: how each of you was raised, what you repeat without noticing, what you want to do differently. Bonds that work through that honestly are described as close and steady; bonds that avoid it may feel strained.
Work and reputation
The IC sits opposite the MC, so public career is not the focus. Astrologers associate this line with work done from home or behind closed doors: research, writing, archives, family businesses, property and restoration. You may care less about how your career looks from outside and more about whether it supports the life you are building in private.

Visiting versus living there
Astrologers often say the IC is the angle you feel most when you live somewhere and least on a short trip. A visit might take you to a family town, an archive or a quiet place to think about your past. Moving here is a bigger matter, read as a long and deep process. A line is one input among many, and cost of living, work, visas and family come first. The home search shows gentler lines for settling, such as Venus IC and Moon IC.
How close you need to be
No distance suits everyone. A band of a few hundred kilometers either side is a common working range, read as strongest near the line. If you only know your birth time roughly, set how sure you are and the map shades the zone where the line could fall. For something as big as a home, treat a line inside that zone as possible rather than certain.
When it crosses other lines
The curved AC and DC lines of other planets cross your Pluto IC line, and the latitude of each crossing is a paran. Pluto IC with your Venus AC line is often read as a warm, easy manner resting on intense private roots; with your Mars DC line as lively, sometimes heated partnerships bound up with rebuilding a home.
Is it bad to live on a Pluto IC line?
No. Tradition reads the Pluto IC line as an intense place to live, focused on home, privacy and family history, rather than a harmful one. Astrologers describe old dynamics resurfacing and a push to rebuild from the foundations, with the reward of a base that feels truly yours. Cost of living, work, visas and family come first in any move.
What does the Pluto IC line say about family?
Astrologers link it with inherited patterns, family secrets and stories coming to the surface: things you may want to understand, resolve or leave behind. Ancestry research fits the symbolism. It describes themes to reflect on, not events, and it says nothing about any relative. Many people read it as a chance to see where they come from.
Pluto IC vs Pluto MC line?
They run exactly opposite each other, half a world apart in longitude. The Pluto MC line turns Pluto's intensity outward, toward career, influence and reputation; the Pluto IC line turns it inward, toward home, family and the private self. One is ambitious ground in public, the other deep change in private.
Is the Pluto IC line good for a fresh start?
It is read as a deep fresh start rather than a light one: rebuilding your private life from the foundations, often through a home you renovate or clear out. If you want an easier new beginning, the fresh start search shows other lines to compare, such as gentler AC lines read for a change of image.
