What the Chiron IC line is
The Chiron IC line, also called the Chiron Imum Coeli line, is the meridian where Chiron lay beneath your feet, on the far side of the Earth, when you were born. In a chart for any place on it, Chiron sits on the IC: the angle of home, family, roots and private life. The Chiron line page compares it with Chiron's other three lines.
It is a straight, dashed line from pole to pole, exactly opposite your Chiron MC line. Chiron lines are off by default on our map: switch Chiron on in the Lines tab.
What astrologers associate it with
On the most private angle, the wounded healer turns toward family and the past. Tradition reads this line as a place where old family hurts and memories come back into view, and where there may be room to understand them differently.
The emphasis is on pace. Astrologers describe the Chiron IC line as gentle and slow rather than dramatic: making peace in private, over time, in your own way. It is one of the most inward lines on the map.
Home and daily life
Home is the main setting. Tradition links this line with a home that works as a refuge: quiet, simple, somewhere you can be unguarded. Sorting through family photos, letters or stories fits the symbolism.
The challenge is dwelling. Revisiting the past can turn into living in it, and astrologers suggest balancing reflection with ordinary daily pleasures and people who keep you in the present.
Love and relationships
For couples, the line is read as bringing family patterns into the relationship: how each of you learned to care, argue and make up. Talking about those patterns kindly is said to bring partners closer. A partner who respects your need for quiet time fits this line well.
Work and reputation
The IC sits opposite the MC, so public career is not the focus. Astrologers associate this line with work done quietly or from home: writing, research into family or local history, crafts, or caring work done close to home. You may care more about how work fits your private life than how it looks from outside.

Visiting versus living there
The IC is often described as the angle you feel most when you live somewhere. A short visit near your Chiron IC line, perhaps to a town your family comes from, is read as a quiet look at your roots. Settling here keeps the theme of family and the past close. A home decision depends on far more than a line: work, cost of living, visas and the people you love. The home search shows lines such as Moon IC and Venus IC alongside it.
How close you need to be
A band of a few hundred kilometers either side is a common working range, read as strongest near the line. If you are not sure of your birth time, set how sure you are and the map shades the zone where the line could fall. For a place you might live, read a line inside that zone as possible rather than certain.
When it crosses other lines
The curved AC and DC lines of other planets cross your Chiron IC line, and astrologers read each crossing latitude as a paran. A crossing with your Venus AC line is often read as a warm, easy manner resting on tender roots; one with your Saturn DC line as a committed partnership that helps you build a steady home.
Is it bad to live on a Chiron IC line?
No. Tradition reads the Chiron IC line as a quiet, reflective place to live, where family history may come up and can be understood over time, at your own pace. Astrologers suggest balancing reflection with daily pleasures and people who keep you in the present. It is a description of themes, not a warning, and practical needs decide a move.
What does the Chiron IC line mean for family?
Astrologers link it with revisiting family hurts and memories in private, and with making peace with them slowly, in your own way. Sorting through photos, letters or stories fits the symbolism. It is symbolic and makes no prediction about your relatives or your past; many people read it simply as a gentle invitation to understand their roots.
Chiron IC vs Moon IC line?
The Moon IC line is read as nesting, comfort and feeling at home. The Chiron IC line is read as a quieter, more reflective home where old family stories can be understood. One is about comfort; the other is about understanding. Both are home lines, but the Moon IC is usually described as the easier one to settle into.
My hometown is on my Chiron IC line. What does that mean?
Astrologers would find that fitting, since the Chiron IC line is about roots, family and the past. Treat it as a prompt for gentle reflection on where you come from, not as proof of anything. Check your birth time first: four minutes of error moves the line one degree of longitude, about 111 km (69 miles) at the equator.
