Moon IC line
The Moon IC line, also called the Moon Imum Coeli line, runs where the Moon was at the lowest point of the sky, directly underfoot, at your birth. It is read as one of the most domestic lines on the map: nesting, family, memory and roots.

What the Moon IC line is
At your birth moment, the Moon was directly beneath your feet somewhere on the far side of the Earth. The meridian through those places, straight from pole to pole, is your Moon IC line, shown dashed in pale silver. It is the most domestic of the four lines the Moon draws, all compared on the Moon line page.
It runs half a world away from your Moon MC line. Born near a new Moon, it sits close to your Sun IC line; born near a full Moon, close to your Sun MC line.
What astrologers associate with the Moon IC line
The IC is the angle of home, family, roots and private life. The Moon is traditionally the planet of home too, so astrologers read this line as a doubling: the strongest home signature a single line can give.
The core reading is nesting. A wish to settle, gather people, keep old things and feel emotionally at home. Memory and family history are part of it, and so is a strong pull to stay.
Love and relationships
Love on this line is described as settling down: building a household, family-centered plans, a relationship rooted in daily life at home.
The caution is comfort winning over growth. A relationship can become mostly domestic, and family opinions about your partner may carry extra weight. For partnership as the main theme, see the Moon DC line.
Work and reputation
This is a private line, not a public one. Tradition associates it with work from home, a home-based business, caring for family, and quiet projects without much of a spotlight.
Career momentum can slow when home pulls this hard. Some people welcome that; others feel stuck. No line decides your work.
Home and daily life
This is where the line lives. Cooking, gardening, family meals, old photos and a home full of meaning fit the picture. You may want to buy furniture to keep, not to replace.
Astrologers also describe nostalgia and homesickness: missing the place when you leave it, or missing an older home while you are there.

Visiting versus living there
A visit near your Moon IC line suits a roots trip, a family reunion or a long rest. Many people describe feeling at home within days.
Living there is read as putting down roots, and astrologers warn this line can be sticky: easy to arrive, hard to go. A move rests on family, work, cost of living, visas and language far more than on any line. The best places for home page compares other home lines.
How close you need to be
No distance is agreed; bands of a few hundred kilometers are common. Click a city on the map for exact km and miles.
Many people check whether this line runs through a family town. Before you read too much into it, check the birth time. Records are often rounded to the nearest 5 minutes, which can still move the line by about 0.6 degrees, close to 70 km at the equator. Larger rounding moves it further; the uncertainty band shows how far.
When it crosses other lines
Where another line crosses your Moon IC line, astrologers read both together, and the crossing's latitude is a paran that runs around the world. Moon underfoot while Venus was rising is read as a beautiful, comfortable home. Moon underfoot while Saturn was rising is read as family duty and a home built slowly.
Is the Moon IC line good for living?
Astrologers read it as one of the most homely lines on the map: nesting, family and belonging. It is often described as easy to settle into and hard to leave. Whether that suits you depends on your stage of life.
Moon IC vs Venus IC line?
The Venus IC line is read as a beautiful, pleasant, harmonious home. The Moon IC line is read as emotional belonging, family and memory. One is about how home looks and feels, the other about how deeply you belong there. Many readings call the Moon IC line the stickier of the two: easy to arrive, hard to leave.
What if my Moon IC line runs through my hometown?
Astrologers read that as one reason a place can feel like home, since the Moon at the base of your relocated chart is the classic signature of belonging. It does not mean you must stay or return. Check your birth time first: four minutes of error moves the line one degree of longitude, about 111 km at the equator.
Is it hard to leave a Moon IC line?
That is a common description in the tradition, because the Moon IC line is about attachment, memory and roots. Astrologers say it can be easy to arrive and hard to go, and that you may feel homesick for it later. It is a symbolic reading, not a rule, and work, family and practical needs decide a move.
