Mars DC line
Your Mars DC line runs where Mars was setting on the western horizon at your birth. Astrologers read it as passion and friction in partnership: attracting assertive people, rivals as well as lovers, and learning to turn conflict into shared action.

What the Mars DC line is
The Mars DC line, also called the Mars Descendant line or Mars setting line, traces the places where Mars was sinking below the western horizon at the minute you were born. There, Mars would sit on your Descendant, the angle of partners, close one-to-one bonds and open opponents. Your Mars draws three more lines, all set side by side on the Mars line page.
It is a dashed curve, the mirror of your Mars AC line. The two curves meet at the far north and south, where they also touch your Mars MC and IC lines.
What astrologers associate it with
The Descendant is the angle of the other person, so here Mars arrives from outside. Tradition reads it as meeting people who are assertive, ambitious, competitive or simply strong-willed. They push you, and you push back.
The line is often described as the most charged of the Mars lines for relationships, but charge is not only conflict. It is energy between two people, and the classic lesson is turning that energy toward a shared goal instead of at each other.
Love and relationships
Attraction here is read as strong and physical. Astrologers describe sparks, chemistry, partners with drive, and a relationship that moves fast. Arguments may come just as quickly, and so may making up.
The challenge is that heat is easy to confuse with compatibility. Power struggles, jealousy and keeping score are the traditional warnings. A Mars DC place is read as testing how well you handle disagreement, not as a place to avoid love.
Work and reputation
At work the line covers partners, clients and competitors. Tradition links it with tough negotiations, demanding clients, strong business partners and competitive markets. That can sharpen you, or wear you down.
It suits work where competition is open and fair: sport, sales, advocacy, debating, any field where a worthy opponent makes you better.
Home and daily life
Daily life on a Mars DC line is read as lively with people: strong personalities around you, debates over dinner, neighbors or housemates with opinions. If you share a home, agreeing on how you handle disagreement is the practical advice astrologers usually give.

Visiting versus living there
A visit is read as intense and sociable: a trip where you meet bold people, take on a challenge with someone, or rekindle the spark in a relationship. Short stays tend to keep the heat enjoyable.
Living there is read as putting that energy into every close relationship. No line is a reason to start or end a relationship, or to move. Work, family, visas and cost of living come first; the map is one input among many.
How close you need to be
Astrologers do not share one rule. A few hundred kilometers is a common working band, strongest closest to the line. Because the line is curved, distance can change faster than you expect as you move north or south. Click any city on the map for the exact kilometers and miles.
Check your birth time too: four minutes of error moves the line about 111 km (69 miles) at the equator, since the Earth turns one degree every four minutes.
When it crosses other lines
Mars DC crossed by a Venus line is the classic passion pairing; by Saturn it is read as hard tests in partnership; by Jupiter as bold allies and big shared plans; by the Moon as emotional heat close to home.
Every crossing marks a paran latitude, where both planets were on angles at once. Astrologers who use parans read the whole band around the world, and the best places for love page shows which lines to approach with care.
Is the Mars DC line bad for relationships?
It is read as the most challenging Mars line for relationships, but not as bad. Tradition describes passion and friction together: strong attraction, partners with drive, and arguments that come quickly and pass quickly. Many astrologers say it rewards couples who can argue fairly and point their energy at a shared goal rather than at each other.
Does the Mars DC line mean strong attraction?
Yes, that is its classic reading: quick, physical attraction, sparks and partners with drive, in relationships that move fast. Tradition adds that heat is easy to confuse with compatibility, so power struggles and jealousy are the usual warnings. It describes symbolism, not who you will meet or whether a relationship starts or lasts.
What if I live on my Mars DC line?
Astrologers would expect relationships, rivals and negotiations to be energetic themes there: strong personalities around you and lively debate. If you share a home, the practical advice is agreeing on how you handle disagreement. The line describes emphasis, not outcomes, and asks nothing of you. It is never a reason to start or end a relationship.
Mars DC vs Venus DC line?
Both are partnership lines. The Venus DC line is read as affection, harmony and ease; the Mars DC line as passion, drive and friction. Venus soothes, Mars ignites. A place near both is read as attraction with real chemistry, while a place near only Mars is read as testing how well you handle disagreement.
