Astrocartography for love: your best places for love

What is the love line?

The love line in astrocartography usually means your Venus DC line: the places where Venus was setting at your birth. Astrologers read the Descendant as the angle of partners, so Venus there is tied to romance and affection. Five other lines are also read for love, and this list uses all six.

The six love lines

Five of the six love lines are DC lines. The Descendant is the point where a planet was setting at your birth, and astrologers read it as the angle of the other person: partners, one-to-one bonds and the people you are drawn to. The sixth is the Venus AC line, which is about you rather than them.

• Venus DC. The classic romance line: meeting people who delight you, and relationships that feel affectionate and balanced. The catch tradition mentions is ease itself, which can make you passive or keen to keep things pleasant rather than honest.
• Venus AC. Where Venus was rising. You are read as softer and more approachable here, with an easy social manner. Love starts with being noticed, so this line counts even though it is not a partner line.
• Jupiter DC. Generous partners, teachers and allies, often from other backgrounds. The flip side is idealizing people or expecting more than anyone can give.
• Sun DC. Partners who mirror your purpose back to you, and shared projects that come into focus. It can also mean other people take center stage.
• Moon DC. Emotional closeness and relationships that feel like family. The care runs both ways, and so can the moods.
• North Node DC. Meetings that feel connected to where your life is heading. The North Node is switched off in the Lines tab by default; switch it on and its DC line joins the list and the map.

Reading the love list

Each city shows its nearest love line and how far away it is. A city 80 km from your Venus DC line and one 380 km from your Moon DC line both make the list, but they tell different stories: one is about delight, the other about belonging. Read the line, not just the rank.

Then click the city. Its panel shows the five nearest lines of any kind, so you can see whether the love line stands alone or shares the area with, say, a Saturn DC line, which tradition reads as commitment with weight. The mix is the reading.

Venus AC or Venus DC?

Both are Venus, but they sit on opposite horizons. On the Venus AC line, Venus was rising, and tradition puts the emphasis on you: how warm and approachable you seem. On the Venus DC line, Venus was setting, and the emphasis moves to the people you meet and what they bring.

At the equator the two lines lie half a world apart; farther north or south the gap changes with latitude. So a city is rarely close to both. If you have to choose, ask whether you want to feel more open yourself, or to be among people who feel easy to love.

What a love line can and cannot do

Tradition describes these as places where connection comes into focus more easily. It does not say you will meet someone there, and it does not say a relationship that began elsewhere is in the wrong place. If you are already with someone, astrologers often read a love line as a place where the bond itself gets more attention.
